HOW TO STAY ON TRACK WITH YOUR HEALTH WHILE TRAVELING

I was recently asked for tips on how to stay on track with your health or how to stick to your plan while traveling, and I really love this question because it’s so relevant to all of us! I think we’ve all been here at one point or another where we’re thinking… I’m eating a certain way, I’m sleeping at a certain time… and then inevitably travel happens or social plans come up.

These are the type of things that make us feel like we’ve been knocked off track and start to wonder how can I get back on or even that sounds too hard so I shouldn’t even bother trying to get back on track.

We can get to this place where we feel like we’re either on the wagon or we’re off the wagon with our health, and what I love to help work with clients on instead is figuring out how we navigate a middle ground where it doesn't have to feel like travel or social plans are going to completely derails us or make us feel horrible. When you have a really good plan and a strong foundation in place it doesn’t always feel like it’s all or nothing.

So, here are my top 3 tips for how to stay on track with your health while you’re traveling:

  1. Have a clear plan in place ahead of time. What’s the plan? Writing it down, and getting clarity before you step into a situation where you might feel resistance or where it’s harder for you to source the foods you normally would is so helpful. This gives you a way to make the decisions and get clear on why it matters ahead of time.

  2. Prioritize protein and balancing blood sugar. This will help keep you feeling full and make sure you have some stability so you don’t end up feeling like you’re crashing or just end up eating whatever is in front of you because you’re hungry.

  3. Identify your non-negotiables. Choose the main 3 things for your health that make you feel your best right now. Especially when traveling or just in times of higher stress in general, things can feel overwhelming. It may not always be possible to do everything you normally would, but if you can identify your 3 non-negotiables then you can stay focused and double down on those.

Just through a few simple shifts like these, you can start to release and relax a little more when you’re traveling or in social situations, and make your healing journey feel more sustainable.
